Cement and Lime company implements rebates

The Challenge


The Cement division were managing the rebate process for two large cement works and several depots, using Excel. This solution lacked visibility and there was little control of their rebate management processes.

Duplicate data was being entered which impacted the business, leading to potential overpayments. There were data inconsistences and errors due to the manual re-keying of data.

There was no audit trail in Excel and it was impossible to validate who in the business had approved changes in calculation. The manual process meant that is was time consuming and complex to manage.

The Solution


The e-bate calculation engine, together with a bespoke front end, provided a complete and automated end-to-end platform that worked alongside the existing ERP system (JDE later migrated to SAP).

The Results


A single source for managing rebates from set up through to payment was implemented. A fully integrated solution reduces the need for duplication of data.

The ability to scenario plan and forecast rebates assisted with the business’ overall sales strategy, with results fed into the customer’s own data warehouse for improved business intelligence.
